With the holidays fast approaching (Can you believe it?!), it’s a good idea to prepare your vehicle for winter now. It will get cold – and you don’t want to get stranded on your way to Halloween, a holiday party or Thanksgiving dinner. We can inspect your automobile and service it so you don’t have to worry about your vehicle in the middle of shopping, cooking, cleaning, and preparing for the busiest social season of the year. Here’s what we’ll do.
Checking the Crucial Bs
B stands for the battery and brakes in this case, and winters in Maryland can be wet and icy. We’ll test your battery to make sure it’s generating plenty of voltage so you don’t end up with a dead battery once the mercury drops. Cold weather can kill an old battery. We’ll also inspect the brakes, because you need to remain safe when driving in inclement weather and you cannot do so with faulty brakes.
Changing the Fluids
We’ll inspect all of the fluids in your automobile and flush and refill those that need it. For example, if you put coolant in the radiator for the summer, it’s time for antifreeze. It’s also time to change the oil, because you’ll be driving all over town throughout the holiday season. Fresh oil protects the engine. Finally, we’ll make sure you have plenty of windshield washer fluid to keep your windshield clean.
H Is for Heater Core
Winter is the worst time to have your heater core break down. You don’t need this headache when it’s freezing outside and you want to be warm inside your car. Fall is the perfect time to have the heating system inspected to ensure it won’t give you any trouble in winter weather. Without the heater core, you won’t be able to warm the inside of your car or use the windshield defroster effectively.
Looking Over the Ts
Tires and transmission will serve as our Ts in this blog post. You know you need plenty of tire tread to handle winter roads, so now is the perfect time to inspect the tread and replace the tires if necessary. If they’re okay but need to be rotated, let’s do that. We can also balance the wheels if they are unbalanced to give you better control. Let’s check your tranny, too, to make sure it’s okay.
